Many Palestinians still carry around their neck the key to their homes in Palestine - homes that they were forced to leave and cannot return to.

Al Nakba is the name Palestinians give to 15th May, 1948 when the State of Israel established itself on the lands, homes and lives of the Palestinian people.

Al Nakba translates to “The Catastrophe”.

Al Nakba was the moment when the Palestinian people became a nation of refugees. 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes and forced to live in refugee camps. Many who were unable to flee were massacred.

Al Nakba remains in the Palestinian consciousness as the time when their freedom was stolen and to this day it is yet to be returned.

Al Nakba is the soil in which many Palestinian stories are buried, and it is the aspiration of this project 1948 to bring some of these stories to the surface.

What has kept the Palestinians alive since Al Nakba is the dream of return to their land. It is their survival and determination that we also wish to celebrate.

This was last year’s project dedicated to the Palestinian Catastrophe.

So here’s a story that will make you lose all hope for humanity, if you haven’t lost it yet. This man is Jalal. He’s Palestinian. His car was torched by Jewish settlers. You see that piece of paper he’s holding? That’s a 1,500 shekel bill ($420) from the Israel Fire and Rescue Services that he’s required to pay. Not only does the State of Israel stand by as these attacks occur on Palestinians every day, but they force the victim to pay for their victimization.

A good friend of my unfriended me on Facebook because of a historical fact I made about Palestine. I said “Palestine came before Israel, Jesus lived in Palestine not Israel. The bible was written centuries after Jesus death and it was to accommodate the translators view on how he lived” aside from that one who is a Christian, Jew, Muslim should know that the bible has lost it’s true meaning due to translation from the Greeks. It’s just sad that one chooses to allow a friendship to dissolve for not choosing to believing in facts.

The Dear Hunter in Pomona

The Dear Hunter in Pomona

April 29, 2013

It’s been an exhausting weekend. Flew out Friday to see The Dear Hunter in SF, caught a ride to LA. Went to the Pomona show which was the last show of the tour. Met a lot of cool and nice fans of theirs. Haven’t had much sleep. I just wanted to share how amazing they are and if you haven’t seen them you must do so in the fall.
